What a great kick-off to the new year. It's the perfect time for refreshed goals and power starts. Here are a few ways to make this year your best ever.
Track Your Progress. I've attached an tracking sheet created by Brian Coughlan that adds your cumulative swim, bike and run miles. Plus, he's added graphs (in our signature orange and black colors) and race result tracking! Use this tool or log it by hand, but keeping track of your workouts is highly motivating. I know that Mary Dallow kept track of her yards in the pool and racked up 200 miles of swimming by that last Thursday in 2010. I tracked my swim (115.1), bike (1346.3) and run (431.6) totals, too. That's like traveling from Wilmington to Albuquerque, New Mexico!
Start now! There are a ton of races right around the corner. The Cardinal Strut, the time trial bike in February and William H. Craig 15K and 5K are all open. As you sign up for races, please let us know! Here is some info on upcoming races:
CARDINAL STRUT
The wait is over! Registration for the 2011 Cardinal Strut 1.2 mile fun run, 5k race and 10 k race is open! CLICK HERE to register online. Renee Griffin and Leanne LaFave together with Holly Tree Elementary will host the same great 1.2 mile fun run, great 5k course, great after-race party and prizes. PLUS, they recently announced that this year's race will include a 10K distance! So sign up today and then lace up those sneakers and get running!!!!
WILMING-TUNDRA TIME TRIAL
The UNCW cycling team is sponsoring a 10-mile time trial on February 6, 2011. Typically in a time trial, riders start one after the other in one-minute intervals and race against the clock. This course is a relatively flat out and back. Early registration (through Feb. 4) is $20. Click Here for more info or CLICK HERE to register!
