Brian Coughlan earned fifth in his age-group in the 15K Race with a time of 1H:28m28s. Congrats also to LEANNE LAFAVE, BEN BOWIE & BETH SHEPPARD in their outstanding efforts in last weekend’s Pinehurst International Triathlon [10.6.2012]. Leanne took the podium with a third place finish in her age-group with an overall time of 2H50m:30s. Beth finished her very first international distance with an outstanding results (1500 meter swim – 33m54s, 30-mile bike – 1H42m13s and 10K run – 58m10s) and Ben finished 10 minutes faster than his 2011 Pinehurst performance!!!

If you have an upcoming race, please let us know. We want to support you! We’ve been known to bring cowbells and signs and very loud cheering sections to help you reach your goals. This weekend, if you’re not competing, join us along the course of the Beach2Battleship Full & Half Iron triathlon. Erica Christensen, Beth Andrew, Jane Ellison,  Crystal Fink, Joe Leblanc, Ty Rabon and Renee Griffin are racing 70.3 miles in half-iron. Jennifer Young is competing in the full iron (140.3 miles).

Two of these women are competing for a cause bigger than the race itself. Jennifer Young (an alum and friend of the club) is GOING THE DISTANCE for THE LEAST OF THESE. This summer she visited an orphanage in Bon Repos, Haiti and on Saturday her race will support the orphans she left behind. She is seeking sponsors for each mile. You don’t have to swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 or run 26.2 – but you can support someone who will!!  Your donation (in any amount) will meet the immediate physical needs of the children, provide supplemental education and medical care and eventually, scholarships for higher education. CLICK THE IMAGE BELOW to view her inspirational video.
TO DONATE TODAY, please CLICK HERE or contact Jen at Jennifer.young@nhcs.net.

Jane Ellison is racing in the half iron to raise awareness and support for orphaned and HIV+ babies in Kenya, through the Amani Children's Foundation. When she started TRI for AMANI  in 2009, her goal was to raise $1000 per race to support one child in Kenya for a year. For this race – her very first half iron, she has raised enough to support 12 Kenyan children for a year!!! If you’d like to increase her effort for the B2B event, check out her FACEBOOK page or her BLOG or contact Jane at janeellison@gmail.com.
