WORKOUT NEWS --------------

FRIDAY RUN - There will be no coached run this Friday, March 29 at 5:45. 

FRIDAY SWIM - Join Coach Karen Wilson for this Friday's swim at 7:00am!  

SATURDAY RIDE - Be sure to visit Fitness for Life's Cycle Center this weekend! Saturday's coached indoor classes will prep you for upcoming races and outdoor rides. Riders experience virtual courses with real-time video on a 12-foot projection screen and simulated incline and decline grading. You train on your bike with seven other riders. There are two sessions on Saturday - 7am and 8:30 - and more throughout the week. CLICK HERE to reserve your space! 

MONDAY YOGA Join us on Monday, April 1 for yoga at the YWCA main building with Holly Konrady. We'll meet from 6am - 7am for asanas suited for athletes. It'll be the perfect way to start the month of April - no joke!
  

EVENT NEWS -----------

SWIM CLINIC! The last swim clinic of the season will be held on April 14, 2013 from 9:00a - 11:00a OR April 21 from 9:00a - 11:00a at the YWCA. There will be a skills workout, an endurance workout and a video workout - where the coaches will record and analyze improvements in your strokes since the last session HERE. We're taking a poll! CLICK HERE to choose the best date for you. 


ROAD TRIP

CHECK OUT the Over the Mountain International distance triathlon on May 18.  The 1.5K swim takes place at Moss Lake - west of Kings Mountain. The 45K bike course starts at Moss Lake and finishes in downtown Kings Mountain and the 10K run course takes place in downtown Kings Mountain.  If you're interested in going, contact Leanne HERE.  This could be a club travel race if we get a group together. We've done this for Pinehurst and Belews in the past and it's been fantastic! 

 TRIATHLON CAMP

logoEver thought about how fun it would be to go to camp as a grown up? What if it's a camp for triathletes?  This spring - you can make that happen! Stacey Richardson of TRIStacey Coaching is hosting a tri camp in Chapel Hill from April 5 - Sunday April 7. There are already a few tri-clubbers signed up! You'll get three days of swimming, biking, running and learning.

Who:        All levels.  Pace groups and multi-level workouts. 

What:     Race-prep workouts,  group track run, epic bike ride with time trial, master swim session, and lots of learning breaks.
Workshops include:  functional strength, open-water sports psychology, TRX, yoga, run  biomechanics, bike fitting,  and training principles.
Where:  Chapel Hill, NC!   Venues include Homestead Aquatic Center, Bolin Creek paved trail, Fleet Feet Sports, UNC track, and country bike rides to Dairyland road and beyond.  Public parking and dining is easy in downtown Carrboro.
When:  Friday, April 5th 1-5pm, Saturday 9-5pm, Sunday 9 am to 1pm.   Saturday night social begins at 5pm.
Why:  To give you the edge you need for 2013 to be your best year, ever.   Count on a great camp experience and for the sponsors to send you off with great goodie bags.

 CONGRATS --------------

Our triathletes are great runners, too! Congrats to all the runners of the Quintiles Wrightsville Beach marathon, half marathon and 5K! Ben Bowie, Lawrence Landrigan and Erica Christensen completed their first marathons. Leanne Vella had a personal best in this - her second - marathon.

Lauren Stephenson, Kris Keller, Beth Sheppard and Meredith Merrill completed their first half marathon with outstanding finishes as did Jen Manocchio, Walker Coughlan and Sam Catlett

Plus, kudos to Eliza Blackwell, who raced the 5K on Saturday night in addition to the half marathon on Sunday morning. Her daughter Ali placed second in her age-group at the 5K and was joined on the podium by Neal Andrew (1st in his age-group) and Beth Andrew (first female masters division). 

Plus, congrats to Michelle Gurrera and her finish at the Lo Tide Run 5K.
