News for March 5, 2013

AZALEA TRIATHLON --------------

It's almost here!  The Azalea sprint tri is this Saturday, March 9! You are all ready for this event. Your hard work and your consistent effort in the pool, on the trainer and on the road will pay off. You will be great! Check out the image below (in the motivation section) - you have done what is necessary (the training), you have done what is possible (your body and brain know what to expect) and on Saturday - you will do impossibly more than you can imagine!
Here are a few things to know:
  • Swim start times should be posted in the next few days. You can find them at the event website HERE or look for them on Facebook.
  • Warm-Up - Lance provided a great warm-up today that can be used on Saturday. Your swim warm-up can be done in the deep water diving well at the UNCW natatorium before you line up. Here is what we did today:
75 yards swim + 75 yards kick + 200 yards [50 easy + 50 moderate + 100 race pace] + 100 easy.
  • Bring or wear your ORANGE YDub tee! Wear what you love to race in - but be sure to sport your tee after the race. We'll take group pictures before, during and after the race.
  • You can pick up your race packet on Friday, March 8th (2:00 PM - 7:30 PM) @ Two Wheeler Dealer or on race morning at UNCW.
  • There is a participant orientation meeting at 6:00 PM on Friday, March 8th at the race site (finish line location - big blue tent). This meeting will be led by SETUP EVENTS and will cover as many details as possible about the race.

CLUB SOCIAL ----------

SOCIAL ON SATURDAY   Join us around 3:30pm at Dockside Restaurant on Airlie Road this Saturday for a post-race social! We'll meet on the marina side to toast our effort and rehash the race. Bring your friends and families as we celebrate our first triathlon of the season!
